Pet Matching Algorithm
PawsLikeMe creates a complex matching score by combining four core personality quadrants for feline and human and then applying scoring weights based on environmental and special factors combined with pre-filtering based on your specific needs.
The 4 Core Personality Quadrants
The quadrants represent feline personality traits that humans are aligned with, and offer a unique perspective into human/feline compatibility.
Energy measures physical as well as mental energy. A cat with high energy tends to be very motivated and active. A cat with low energy prefers the lazy life and won't go out of his way to keep himself entertained. Remember that energy represents both physical and mental. For cats, energy is closely related to playfulness. In general, kittens should be scored higher in energy than adult cats.
Confidence measures the cat's level of security. A cat with high confidence will confront new situations and people with no hesitation. A cat with low confidence will need more guidance and reassurance in their daily life.
Focus measures a cat's ability to concentrate on people. A high focus cat will be more likely to follow direction and has a higher interest in learning from their parent. A low focus cat is spontaneous in play and easily distracted. Therefore, less likely to have good listening skills, but more likely to entertain the family with a free spirited attitude.
Independence measures a cat's level of affection. A very independent cat is happy with minimal physical contact; a glance or kind word. A cat with low independence thrives on petting, giving kisses, and being in contact.
